The VALVE KLIPPER is a 100% tube unit based on the early ‘70s Klipp and late 60's Plexi preamps.
The VALVE KLIPPER is designed to be a part of your tube amp, not your pedalboard. It adds two more gain stages to the existing preamp on your tube amplifier. It’s effectively two circuits in one: ‘68 Plexi preamp (boost) and Klipp circuit (overdrive/distortion), in a pedal format and adjusted to drive the front end of other amps. All the saturation comes from real tube circuitry.
Unlike other tube pedals, it works at real tube voltages and has a dedicated power supply that feeds the tubes' plates with the correct 300V, as in the original Klipp amplifier. The unit is powered directly from the AC line through an IEC cord (not included), like the ones used to power many pieces of electronic equipment such as computers, guitar amplifiers and professional audio devices. No wall warts, back-to-back transformers or other power supply tricks are used. A 115V/230V switch on the pedal allows worldwide mains compatibility.
The tubes are located inside a dedicated compartment, isolated from the rest of the circuit to help lower any interaction with external electromagnetic fields for a quieter performance. They're accessible by removing a screwable lid at the top of the unit, which also allows ventilation and prevents accidental user manipulation.
